Horizontal integration covers different phases of cooperation between industrial companies: sales engineering phase (pre-contract phase including basic design), product engineering (detailed design and work preparation), production and product support engineering (after-sales service, M&R)
Vertical integration covers the vertical value chain of ship owners – shipyards – equipment suppliers – designers – specialist consultants.
Crucial in this context are the interfaces and varying working procedures, different functional views, different tools etc.
